This live webinar course is designed to support speech-language pathologists in identifying key features of African American English (AAE) across linguistic domains. The course explores strategies to promote more effective assessment and service delivery for AAE-speaking students.

Course examines the history and perceptions of African American English (AAE) and lists features of the dialect across linguistic domains. Strategies to effectively assess speakers of AAE are reviewed. Implications for testing and instruction are discussed.

This course examines historical, legal, philosophical, and sociocultural factors that place students at-risk for overidentification for special education or involvement in the school-to-confinement pipeline.
